In WoW rannten Trolle für die LGBTQ+-Community

Ein bunter Anblick auf dem WoW-Server Feathermoon sorgte für Aufsehen. Fast 900 bunte Trolle rannten und spendeten für eine gute Sache.
World of Warcraft wurde in der Vergangenheit immer wieder für gute Zwecke genutzt. Nachdem das „Running of the Gnomes“ gegen Brustkrebs immer mehr Anklang fand, wurde daraus sogar ein festes Event im Ingame-Kalender. Am 9. Juni fand ein ähnliches Ereignis statt, diesmal auf der Hordenseite: Das Running of the Trolls.

Worum geht es beim Running of the Trolls? Die möglichst bunten Trolle beginnen auf Level 1 im Startgebiet der Trolle, den Echoinseln, und rennen von dort aus als große Gruppe nach Orgrimmar. Dann geht es weiter mit dem Zeppelin nach Tirisfal, von wo aus sie durch die westlichen und dann die östlichen Pestländer pilgern. Weiter geht es durch die Geisterlande und den Immersangwald, bis sie letztlich in Silbermond ankommen. Dabei werden Spenden für einen guten Zweck gesammelt. Insgesamt nahmen in 2018 knapp 860 Trolle teil.
Für welchen Zweck wird gespendet? Die Einnahmen aus dem Lauf, die sich in diesem Jahr auf 4.195 US-Dollar belaufen, werden an das „The Trevor Project“ gespendet.
Das ist ein Verein, der sich der Selbstmord-Prävention für LGBTQ+-Jugendliche verschrieben hat, also für jugendliche Schwule, Lesben, Bisexuelle oder Transgender. Die Selbstmordrate unter diesen Jugendlichen ist hoch, da die gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz in vielen Orten auf der Welt fehlt. Das „The Trevor Project“ bietet diesen Jugendlichen Krisen- und Suizid-Telefonseelsorge.

Wie das Running of the Gnomes – nur für die Horde … und eher für Männer
Männer wollten eigenes Projekt. Die Organisatorin Dravvie erzählt aber auch, dass nicht alles positiv an der Sache ist. Sie habe das Projekt ins Leben gerufen, weil Spieler auch auf der Hordenseite so etwas haben wollten. Doch andere fühlten sich beim „Running of the Gnomes“ (das Event zur Unterstützung der Brustkrebs-Forschung) ausgeschlossen, weil sie keine Frauen sind.
So erzählt Dravvie:
„Die andere, eher frustrierende Rückmeldung, die ich erhielt, war, dass die Leute ein Event speziell für Männer wollten. Dabei vergessen sie, dass Brustkrebs alle betrifft, egal welches Geschlecht sie haben. Aber ich tat mein bestes, um diesen Wünschen nachzukommen.“
Damit gibt es gegenwärtig zwei große, jährlich wiederkehrende Events in World of Warcraft, die Spenden sammeln.
Was haltet ihr von dieser Sache? Eine coole Aktion, die Aufmerksamkeit auf wichtige Themen lenkt und auch noch Geld für gute Zwecke sammelt? Oder hat sowas nichts in einem Spiel zu suchen?
